SF 49er Kicker Matthew Wright's Night | Flees Tampa Hurricane for NFL Victory

Matthew Wright got the call Monday night as he and his wife, Kelsey, were evacuating Tampa for the Milton Hurricane storm! Wright signed with the 49ers on Tuesday after San Francisco lost starting kicker Jake Moody to a high ankle sprain during their loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week. In his debut for the 49ers on Thursday night, Wright delivered a flawless performance, going 3 for 3 on both field goals and extra points in the team's 36-24 victory over Seattle. The 49ers brought him in on a one-year deal to fill the void left by Moody's injury. At 27, Wright has played four NFL seasons, kicking for four different teams before joining San Francisco. He has also been a part of eight different practice squads over the course of his career. Notably, he was the kicker for UCF’s undefeated 2017 team, which famously claimed a "National Championship."
